This article, I will give advice on preparing mailbox for exchange cross forest migration.
Source for example : mustafa2008DC.local, exchange server 2010
Destination for example : mustafa2019DC.local , exchange server 2013 or 2016
( Does’nt support exchange 2010 to 2019 )
Connect to new exchange server and open the exchange management shell ( 2013 or 2016 ).Go to the exchange script file path as below.
What is it LocalCredantials ?
We need new domain controller credentials because we need some admin privileges before running the script.(mustafa2019DC.local)
The reason we entered the new domain controller information is that we will run this script in the exchange 2016 environment, that is, in the new exchange environment.
$LocalCredentials = Get-Credential
What is it RemoteCredantials ?
Old domain controller credantials ( mustafa2008DC.local)
$RemoteCredentials = Get-Credential
UseLocalObject
The UseLocalObject parameter specifies whether to convert the existing local object to the required target mail user if the script detects an object in the local forest that conflicts with the to-be-created mail user.
OverWriteLocalObject
The OverWriteLocalObject parameter is used for users created by the Active Directory Migration Tool. The properties are copied from the existing mail contact to the newly created mail user. However, after this copy, the script also copies the properties from the source forest user to the newly created mail user.
The management shell, follow paths ;
C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\scripts
$LocalCredentials = Get-Credential
$RemoteCredentials = Get-Credential
.\Prepare-MoveRequest.Ps1 -Identity mustafa.turkoglu -RemoteForestDomainController “mustafa2008DC.local” -RemoteForestCredential $RemoteCredentials -LocalForestDomainController “mustafa2019DC.local” -LocalForestCredential $LocalCredentials -UseLocalObject -OverwriteLocalObject -Verbose
